How to become a security guard

It is not easy to become security guard if anyone think it is. In fact, this job is one of the hardest thing yet always overlooked. Security guard protects and they should at least have the best treatment and salary because their lives are always in danger.

To become a security guard, you should know the duties and responsibilities first. As mentioned above, you will be protecting the lives of many people, not only your employer/s. Being a security in the banks,  hospitals and other business establishments makes the clients feel comfortable, without a security guard, people might always think that they are not safe in one place.

To become a good security guard, you will need to undergo training a whole lot of training to make sure that you would know what to do in case accidents and other incidents  happens that would require you to be alert and independent. The training varies from one state to another, a good example to this is in California where you need to pass the eight hour test called “power to arrest” which is a security guard training course and then you must also pass its written security guard exam. IN a  month, you will be undergoing 16 hours of additional training and another 16 hours in the next month, this will be be an ongoing training until you reach your 40 hours of training.

In the state of New York, the security guard training is structured just a little differently. Like in California, if you have no previous law enforcement training (in New York), then you are required to do an 8-hour pre-assignment training course before you can get hired as a security guard.

In New York however, it’s quite different. You are required to undergo the pre training course  if you do not have any law enforcement training certificate. And if you are thinking of becoming an armed security guard, then you would  also have to undergo New York’s security guard training course for 47 hours before anything else. It is tough, but once you are there, you will enjoy being one, however, these are just an idea on how to become a security guard since, there could be other required tests or trainings that are not mentioned above.

How to become security guard may seem to be very easy to some; it is because they do not realize how difficult the training is to become one.
